BUM 2010 aims for unbiased gathering
KUALA LUMPUR: Bloggers’ Universe Malaysia (BUM) 2010 organising committee chairman YL Chong hopes the annual gathering this year will be more balanced compared with previous years.
“We try our best to make the event unbiased because we do not have any political alignments.”
He was looking forward to the event as the organisers were able to get mainstream media to take part in the gathering of active bloggers and aspiring local bloggers.
Among the confirmed speakers are The Sun’s investigative and special reports editor R. Nadeswaran, The Star’s managing business editor P. Gunasegaram and Utusan Malaysia managing editor and deputy editor-in-chief Zaini Hassan.
“Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin have confirmed their attendance.”
Other speakers include Kuala Selangor MP Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok and Human Rights Party pro-tem secretary P. Uthayakumar. Last year, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the keynote speaker.
The fourth BUM 2010 theme is ‘Bloggers: Moving Malaysia Forward’ and will be held at the Lake View Club in Subang Jaya on May 22 from 10am to 7pm.
“We are looking forward to a lively interaction between the so-called traditional media and new media. We are all trying to do our best for the country,” said Chong.
The full-day event is limited to only 200 participants on a first-come-first-served basis. Registration is RM60 each and more details can be found at www.bum4msia.wordpress.com.
